About Earthistry's Natural Soaps

Real Soap:

It may come as something of a surprise, but much of what you see on the shelves in stores, whether your grocery market or your high-end bath and beauty shop, is not even soap. It's actually a detergent due to the fact that the natural glycerin has been removed.

By definition, soap contains a glycerin byproduct that naturally occurs during the soapmaking process. The glycerin acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin from the air around it.

Our natural glycerin comes from vegetable oils and helps keep your skin hydrated without feeling greasy.  It's one of the reasons why our natural soap leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished.

Most of the time when bathing with other soaps, the first thing you do after a shower is apply lotion to rehydrate your skin.  Many of our customers have told us that they don't even need lotion anymore.  The natural vegetable glycerin from our soaps, in combination with the moisturizing vegetable oils we use, keeps their skin hydrated all day!

We invite you to wash and feel the difference!

Select Ingredients:

It all starts with the best ingredients.  Our vegetable oils are chosen carefully for their natural properties, then blended to maximize their combined benefit for your skin.

We design our soap recipes with vegetable oils specifically chosen to effect rich, creamy lather, hardness, durability, antioxidant properties, hydration and moisturization.

Some of our natural ingredients include:  Olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, castor oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, hempseed oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, apricot kernal oil, essential oils, flowers, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, goat's milk, honey, oatmeal, etc...

We do NOT use any "tallow," which is the soapmaker's term for animal fat.  In fact, the majority of our soaps are vegan products.  Those which contain honey and/or goat's milk are clearly marked as such.

Every ingredient in every recipe is chosen for the benefit that it can add to your skin as a soap.  We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoy making them!

Cold-Process:

We use a traditional method of soapmaking called "cold-process."  After combining all of our ingredients, we pour the mixture into molds to create "loaves" of soap.  These loaves are cut into individual soap bars and allowed to cure and harden at room temperature for four weeks or more.

By curing our soaps at room temperature, we avoid denaturation, which can be caused by heat, of the beneficial properties of our vegetable oils.  If you're going to go through the trouble of selecting top-quality ingredients, you ought to make the effort to protect them.

We take other steps as well relative to our soapmaking process to get the most possible benefit from our natural ingredients, including ideal storage, cure temperature management, and superfatting.  For us, soapmaking is an art as well as a science, and we're glad to share our art with you!

Secret Ingredient:

Of course, what would a family business be without a secret ingredient?  Well, for us, that secret ingredient is YOU!  We listen carefully to everything that you, our customers, say about our soaps, everything that you ask for, everything that you like or want to see, and we take it all to heart.  We wouldn't be anywhere without you and we know it.
